We hope you’re enjoying our series highlighting some of our sign artisans! Today, we want to highlight one of our newer VPs of National Accounts, Daina Bailey. Daina is a seasoned expert when it comes to all things signage and brand strategy. She joined our team in February of 2020 and has quickly proved herself to be a tremendous asset for our company, particularly when it comes to Wyndham-branded and Motel 6/Studio 6 hotels. Learn more about Daina via our interview below!

Q: Where are you originally from? And where do you live now?

Daina: I am from Sedgwick, KS.  There were 28 of us in my high school senior class.  I now live in Wichita – the largest city in Kansas.

Q: How long have you been in the sign industry? And/or with HOTELSIGNS.com?

DB: I have been in the sign industry for 27 years and with HOTELSIGNS.com since February 2020!

Q: What’s the most rewarding part of your job?

DB: Meeting clients from all over and helping them help their guests/visitors navigate their way.  No one wants to feel lost, and we help to solve that issue.

Q: What does a normal day as a sales rep look like?

DB: Speaking to clients & answering questions. Throw in some ADA knowledge, brand knowledge, plan review, estimating, materials suggestions, and you have a full day.

Q: What’s something you’ve learned since being in the hospitality industry?

DB: You can open a hotel without drapes, lobby furniture, or shower curtains – but you can’t open a hotel without signs! Certain signage is required for hotels to obtain their CO – Certificate of Occupancy.

Q: What’s one thing hospitality professionals don’t often know about signs?

DB: The rules & regulations of ADA compliant signage.  That is where we come in. We are experts in the field and ensure all signage manufactured and sold is ADA compliant. We guarantee it!

Q: Imagine you had unlimited money and could go anywhere for a week: where would you go and why?

DB: A trip on the Orient Express sounds exotic and luxurious.  Definitely on my bucket list!

Q: Outside of helping clients get the best signs ever, what do you enjoy doing?

DB: Traveling, seeing beautiful landmarks, and some fabulous hotel designs.

Q: Favorite travel destination?

DB: I love France! My last trip there included a dinner cruise on the Seine, amazing seats at Moulin Rouge, and a very memorable dinner at a fondue restaurant with friends where you were only allowed to drink wine out of glass baby bottles.  Strange – but we wanted that French wine, so we went with it. It was so wonderful that I wanted to share a photo with all of you!

See? Sales representatives aren’t all business (though they take their signs seriously)!

Q: What travel accessory can you not do without?

DB: Noise-canceling headphones & my iPad for movies and games. I am addicted to Word Seek!

Thank you, Daina, for your time chatting with us and the energy you channel to helping hospitality customers secure affordable, attractive, and ADA-compliant brand-specific interior signage.
