Meet our June Sign Artisan of the Month, Mami Bodewes, VP of Sales—a relationship-driven problem solver who brings creativity, curiosity, and a personal touch to every project she takes on.
Originally from Senegal, Mami’s global perspective and vibrant energy shine through in her work, whether she’s guiding customers through complex signage solutions or building lasting partnerships along the way. From her love of Zumba and thrifting to her passion for helping others, Mami approaches both her work and life with authenticity, adaptability, and a sense of fun that makes a lasting impression.
What is a fun fact about you that may surprise people?
A fun fact about me is that I’m originally from Senegal, so French and Wolof were my first languages.
What is your favorite hobby, activity, or creative outlet?
I really enjoy exploring new places with my family. I also love working out—Zumba is my jam! And thrifting… it’s really a problem 😄.
Whether it’s trying a new restaurant, traveling overseas, going for a walk, or just being out in nature (when I’m not obsessing about bears being around), I love anything that helps me recharge and stay curious.
What is your favorite part about your job and why?
My favorite part of my job is helping customers bring their projects to life. Signage may seem simple on the surface, but there is a lot of thought and coordination behind it. I enjoy guiding customers through the process and finding solutions that work best for their project.
Which of your professional accomplishments are you most proud of?
I’m most proud of the relationships I’ve built with customers and colleagues over the years. Many of the people I work with have become long-term partners, and it’s incredibly rewarding when they continue to trust me with their projects time and time again.
What is the best piece of advice anyone has ever given you?
You don’t have to have all the answers—just take the next step, learn along the way, and keep moving forward. This advice has really stuck with me, reminding me to stay confident, adapt as I go, and keep making progress even when things aren’t perfect or ideal.
What’s a cause that you are passionate about?
I’m passionate about helping and supporting others whenever I can. Whether that’s mentoring someone, helping a customer through a challenging project, or simply being there for people in my life, I believe small acts of support can make a big difference.
What’s your secret talent that no one at work knows about?
In my delusion, I like to think of myself as a bit of a multi-talented secret weapon. I fancy myself a singer, even though I definitely can’t carry a tune. I love to dance, even though my knees protest every time, and I can’t remember choreography to save my life. I also have a knack for thrifting and finding treasures in the quirkiest places. Basically, I improvise my way through life, and somehow it’s usually a little fun, a little chaotic, and totally moi!
What is your ideal weekend?
My ideal weekend is spending time with my family, enjoying good food, laughter, and relaxing moments together… and thrifting. I also love discovering new places or restaurants. It’s always fun to try something new.
