It’s October of this never-ending year, and at this point, we’ll take any reason to celebrate. So today, we raise our coffee mugs to Urbane Bronze, Sherwin-Williams’ 2021 Color of the Year.

Each year, different paint brands reveal the shade they think will dominate interior design in the upcoming year. Last month, Sherwin-Williams had forecasted their top color picks for 2021 via the Colormix® Forecast. Then a few weeks later, they announced their 2021 Color of the Year to color aficionados (and the greater interior design and manufacturing world).

Urbane Bronze? Tell me more.

Rooted in nature, Urbane Bronze (SW 7048) is a darker grey with a slight bronze/brown undertone to it. Per the Sherwin-Williams announcement, this hue’s “natural simplicity and nature-inspired energy cultivate a sense of calm from the ground up.”

Serenity? Tranquility? We’re certainly interested. It’s been one heck of a year, and like you, we’ll take anything that inspires peace of mind.

Urbane Bronze is an excellent choice for adding warmth and hospitality to any space. Despite its simple color scheme, the color forges a feeling that’s meditative, serene, and grounded by nature.

When asked about the rationale behind selecting Urbane Bronze, Sue Wadden, Director of Color Marketing at Sherwin-Williams, explains, “This year is causing us to pause and be mindful of how we’re living, so we gravitated towards Urbane Bronze for its ability to create a sense of calm while making us feel safe and secure.”

What does it go with?

Glad you asked! Urbane Bronze is best paired with warm neutrals and bone whites, modern greens, and natural-inspired finishes. Sherwin-Williams suggests Modern Gray (SW 7632) and Messenger Bag (SW 7740). Their newest Color of the Year is also “the neutral that can be used wherever and however.”

Take advantage of this color’s association with serenity and consider adding it to your current hotel or your next hotel renovation! Imagine the possibilities: your lobbies, restaurant/bar area, guest room, etc. Urbane Bronze is the inviting color that reinforces your property’s commitment to hospitality, warmth, and friendliness. Wadden adds, “Urbane Bronze is a rich beautiful color, but it’s also quite versatile and can be used in a variety of interior and exterior spaces, including hotels. It looks great as an accent wall in a lobby or hotel room or on the restaurant bar.”

Imagine this color in your next design project!
