After a long day, your hotel’s guests will be delighted to jump into the pool. It is, after all, a great way to unwind and relax. But when was the last time you checked to make sure your pool is up to your state’s latest public pool regulations? States will periodically release regulatory updates to enhance safety and protection, so it is important to ensure that your hotel’s pool area is up to standard.

As your trusted sign provider, we are committed to updating our customers with pertinent regulatory information. In this blog post, we explore pool updates in Florida and Utah.

Florida

Florida has expanded section 454.1.2.3.5, Rules and Regulations Signage, to include clarification of what is and is not allowed on a pool deck. In addition to clarifying this rule, signage must also notify guests of the maximum pool depth. The pool depth text must predominate the text height of all other pool rules, with a text height of two inches.

The bottom line: Signage must now indicate the maximum pool depth. Compliant pool signs can be found at HOTELSIGNS.com.

Utah

Utah has recently mandated adoption of the 2018 International Swimming Pool and Spa Code (ISPSC). Adoption is at the state level in Utah, which means it applies to each jurisdiction within the state. The ISPSC provides minimum requirements for public swimming pools. This may create a material alteration of pool signage in some jurisdictions, but ultimately, after compliance has been met under the ISPSC, facilities may add additional rules and signage that is more specific to their pools. Signage under the ISPSC includes safety signage, such as No Diving and Drowning Warning signs, Emergency Telephone signs, and Spa Operation signs.

The bottom line: If you live in Utah, check with your jurisdiction to see if your hotel facility will require any additional signage. If you do, HOTELSIGNS.com has a wide variety of Utah-specific pool signs for your convenience.
